I think Toon Aerts did a great job again. Amazing crew as always and let's not forget the "Convoy" interiour. Am I the only one going nuts about it? Anyway, was great to be part of this one. Will not ever eat spareribs again!
Oh by the way, our big friend getting his weiner toasted is "Dikke Dennis" from Amsterdam. When in town make sure to visit his tattooshop "666".
Tell him the Captain sent ya!

Zombelgian Way of No Life
Did a small cameo in a videoproject last summer for my pal Ignacio Bort from Spain. Ignacio is the punk dude in the Sore Losers video "Beyond Repair". A real sport for coming in by train in full make up with two of his pals to shoot the end shot of this video near my place. A couple of months ago Jerome, one of the two featured Zombies showed up with a complete crew for a commercial. That one should be online very soon too. In the meanwhile...Zombelgian Way of Life.

Creepshow
I named Creepshow the greatest horror movie ever earlier today. I'm sure everyone has their opinion about the greatest horror movie ever made. But today, for me...it's Creepshow. Directed by Romero, Screenplay by Stephen King, Special Make up Effects by Tom Savini (some of his best work in this one), Incredible music by John Harrison and a dreamcast including Hal Holbrook, Adrienne Barbeau, Ted Danson, Fritz Weaver, Leslie Nielsen, Tom Atkins and a bunch of Romero regulars from his Pittsburgh Days. For me it's like the ultimate George A Romero film, it's Martin, Knightriders, Season of the Witch and his first Three Dead films rolled into one in typical early Romero Pittsburgh atmosphere. So, no. Nothing new to report here, just a little celebration of my now new favorite George A Romero movie: Creepshow.
The Remake Rant
It's old news by now but i'mù still complaining. I took the time to watch two remakes in the past weeks. First one: A Nightmare on Elm Street and I have to say it's one of the worst films EVER made. And believe me, I've seen some stinkers. A Nightmare on Elm Street should get a few awards though. The award for most irritating cast in movie history and a gold medal for destroying a classic. Damn, I can't help it, but it keeps reminding me of Amber Lynn, you know, the blonde "Adult Movie" Star of the eighties. Back in those days she was like the teenage boy sexual religion, the high priestes of porn. Then, she disaapeared, made a remake of herself and returned as this transformed mess trying to compete with modern day "stars". It's a wreck, and i'm sure there's an audience for it. Me? No thanks. I keep it real, both my ho's and my movies.
And who's the blame? I blame teenagers these days for this ever growing market for rehashes, celluloid rape and disfigurment. Dumbass kids who think the original Dawn of the Dead is a stupid movie, who have never heard of the original The Hills have Eyes and have no fucking clue about who Fred "The Hammer" Williamson is. It's the I-pod-I-Pad-I-Phone jerk off generation that's deciding for all of us. These pricks actually pay to see a piece of shit remake or the next horrible Fast and Furious shitfest! And it's not just that, these pricks don't even watch the damn movie...nope, they're texting their asshole friends, updating their facebooks with crap like 'yo, i'm at the movies watching this piece of shit film...lolz'. Oh it's so clear, a while ago, when Death Proof came out, they were not around...And it's a Tarantino film, you'd figure, these kids would love that stuff...nope. Boring! Same with Inglorious Basterds...I had one of these douchebags telling me how he hates that film, and yes, I should've punched him, but no I didn't. He told me 'But I bet you liked it, right?'. Damn right man, now go home and watch some Transformers and play with yourself.
I don't know...These pricks don't appreciate art. In a perfect world everyone would be after that obscure Fulci tape (yeah SCREW DVD and Bluray etc too!...) Maybe we should kidnap an entire highschool, start with one, and give em some lessons in culture. Keep em awake and force em to watch Bring me the Head of Alfredo Garcia followed by Once Upon a Time in the West, and throw some Evil Dead and early Scorcese films in the mix too. This for a week. Those who haven't learned by then are locked up for another week with nothing but Whoopie Goldberg films and dropped of naked in the bad part of town, just for the hell of it.
Oh yeah, I saw another remake...I Spit on Your Grave. All I could think of was "Why?"...Why do that? I'm not saying that the originla was a very pleasant movie or something, important it was. But you don't go around and re-paint a picasso right? "I could do this better...the kids will buy it". Ofcourse, because the kids are stupid. I don't think the film industry has ran out of ideas, it's just another market...it has nothing to do with the damn movie! It's exploitation for mentally challenged modern day, Jersey Shore, reality tv loving people, the kids. But at the same time, it messes with people who do love the original shit. I know...why give a fuck? We still have the originals, watch them again instead! It just pisses me off. Like this I Spit on Your Grave remake...c'mon...call that acting? Sure there were some creative killings and shit, but it was one hell of a lousy movie. That simple. Want something innovative? Check what the french have been doing for quite a while now...Irreversable, nasty piece of shit, but old formula and effective. Haute Tension...been there done that, nice little hommage but effective.
And if it wasn't ancient news, I type a thousand more words in shitty english about the Halloween remakes! John Carpenter should've punched Rob Zombie in the dick for that! Twice! Seriously...Sherri Moon as a ghost? It's clear who wears the pants at the Zombie residence.
Well...let me end this post with on a positive note. That Piranha 3D stuff gets two thumbs up. How about that? Ah, nobody cares.
I'm gonna smoke some cigarettes and watch Invasion USA, goodnight.

Memorabilia part 8, Some European VHS covers.
A couple of favorites in this post.
First up are H.B. Halicki's two chase classics: Gone in 60 Seconds and The Junkman.
I don't know why they changed the title for The Junkman, but I do know, that both movies sure beat the hell out of later releases, where they had to mess with the soundtracks. I'll just stick with these two. Scrrrrewww DVD!

One of my favorite Dutch covers of all time is this one for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I think it's the first official TCM release in europe and this one had our imaginations run in overdrive during our daily videostore visits. WHen we finally had the guts to rent it...well...never mind.

Ah, Dawn of the Dead. The European cut. Never knew there was a US version untill DVD came along and it took me a while to get used of the Romero Version. Anyway, the one on the right is one of those tapes we rented atleast 75 times, this was (is!) the shit!! Ultraviolent and scored by Goblin...what else do you want?

Let me tell you what else you want...
A shameless Italian Dawn of the Dead rip off! Including it's soundtrack!
Hell of the Living Dead, spelled wrong. Amazing cover, amazing movie! Yeah, I don't get it when people say it's a piece of shit film. It's a Zombie film that beats ANY zombie film made after Savini's Night of the Living Dead remake. And yes, all of em.

Here's a nasty one. Wes craven's Last House on the Left. Nasty cover for a nasty movie.

Something 'lighter' here...Four of the Five (or six?) Aces Go Places movies. I love these. Good old fashioned wrecking shit up and some laughs. Think if Hal Needham would've been asian.

A couple of Biker movies. Love the middle one on top, it's the ex renatl for Bury me an Angel. A title that's way up there with the likes of "I Spit on your Grave", "Last House on the Left", "The Candy Snatchers" and so on. Pretty cool movie.

Mark Lester's STUNTS starring Robert Forster. I love this one and the video sleeve. Picture is taken from a French Stuntshow by Jean Sunny and his crew. I've seen this picture on another videosleeve too, I think it was for the "Goodtime Outlaws", will check that out later. Need to know now.

Yep, same one, Good Time Outlaws. Sorry for the picture, took this one real quick.

Well, not much time today, could go one for hours. But here's a picture of the whole pile.

Full Metal Peckinpah
Ahhh...that's another wrap!
Just spent a sixteen hour day on set with Toon Aerts and The Sore Losers for their upcoming video. Drove all the way up to a little place near Amsterdam, where we got to spent a whole day on a set once used by none other than Sam Peckinpah!! Yep, 1978, Convoy!!! This is the second Convoy related surprise I had in less than two years, right here. The first one was meeting one of the camera guys for that film at my front door, dude didn't only do Convoy, but shitloads of tv shows, including The Fall Guy, Knightrider, Airwolf...
Anyway, I am now in full metal Peckinpah mode and as another coincidence, there's tons of his movie on MGM this week. Maybe it's a sign or something, I just need to figure out what it all means! 10-4

Memorabilia part 7, One Sheets.
Okay, i'm gonna try and make this my last post for this week. Got stuff to do, including a new Sore Losers video. But more on that later. Let's move on with a bunch of US one sheet posters. Now, about US posters, they're pretty uncommon over here, yet, in the mid eighties to early nineties, local theatres would have em, depending on the movie and release. Here's one of them to start with...you can see what age and years of not really caring about stuff can do to a poster:

This next one is also one that's in my collection for years. The borders are completely destroyed, so I've fold em over and framed it. I also had it signed by William Lustig:

Here's another one for Maniac. This is one in excellent condition.

One of my favorite movie posters of all time. Last House on the Left. Also one I have for years. ANd same as the Maniac one, had to frame it, cause it was litteraly falling apart.

A similar poster and a great movie:

Another AMAZING poster for an AMAZING film:

Here's a rare one. A US One Sheet for Cannibal Holocaust. I will have this one up for sale at the Antwerp convention the first of may. Since people are willing to pay me a couple of hundreds bucks, why not? Seen one go on ebay for close to 500 dollars.

Another cool one and one i'd never sell, an original The Hills Have Eyes.

Another fancy one...Romero's Day of the Dead:

I'll post some more one sheets next time, some more action and horror movies and 70's exploitation.

Memorabilia part 6, a couple of VHS and Cinema promo posters.
Check this out. A Dutch/Belgian New York Ripper videostore poster. I had tons of these videoposters but lost almost all of them over the years. A goddamn shame.

And here's one for Emanuelle. I love the artwork for all the movies coming out on VHS at the time, gives you a good idea about the golden age of videotapes.

This one for Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer was hanging all over Amsterdam at the time a former lady friend of mine was studying over there. I think I got this one over at the famous "Cult Videotheek". It's a bit smaller as the Giant French one.
I remember it premiered at the Weekend of Terror in the early nineties, but don't remember a theatrical release in Belgium.

Wasn't sure where to post this one, I don't think it's anything official. Was for sale for a few bucks at a convention a couple of years ago. Maybe it was for one of the countless DVD releases this movie had over the years.

Memorabilia part 5, A bit more Evil Dead.
Ah the joy of being sick at home! Here are a couple more EVIL DEAD items.
First up is the Australian daybill. I found this one at a fleamarket here in Belgium. Crazy!

And two pictures I picked up in a shop no longer there, specialized in movie posters and lobby cards. That place was nuts! First one is a promo picture followed by a Lobby Card. I need to get me the complete set.

Memorabilia part 4, Brian Trenchard Smith and Grant Page
It's a fact that anyone who knows me, knows at least three Brian Trenchard Smith movies and knows who Grant Page is. These gentlemen made one hell of a impact on me back in 1982 or '83 when Danger Freaks aired on a German tv channel. Now, almost 30 years and having performed over 800 body burns myself later i'm still a huge fan and try to collect everything I can get my hands on.
So what follows is the BTS/Grant Page section of the collection. Starting with the French Man From Hong Kong poster:

The Australian MFHK poster signed by BTS at the Offscreen film festival in Brussels 2009.

The Man From Hong Kong themesong "Skyhigh" by Jigsaw:

The Deathcheaters one sheet signed by BTS, Grant Page and Richard Brennan:

Here's the one sheet for the excellent documentary by Mark Hartley called Not Quite Hollywood, also signed by BTS, Richard Brennan and Mark Hartley:

And let's move on to one of my favorite movies of all times! STUNT ROCK!
This is one I found more recently, it's the US one sheet with the alternative title "Sorcery", after the band featured in the movie:

The giant French Stunt Rock poster my brother bought me: (note the artwork that was ripped off from the Mark Lester stunt classic "Stunts")

Probably the best known poster, the standard us one sheet. Signed by BTS and Grant Page:

The Australian one sheet signed by BTS:

The UK Quad poster some big baby over in the UK gave me:

And another poster that came with the Promo record:

Couple of Mexican Lobby Cards:

The six song promo album that comes with a poster:

The Re-Issue soundtrack album that includes the picture disc:

Some VHS and DVDs:

The shirt I rarely wear:

The backside:

The wizard shirt and this one can be found over at www.mondotees.com

And another one, found this one on ebay:

Okay, last but not least, Grant Page was kind enough to send me some signed items, such as his book "MAN ON FIRE" (I suggest you order and read!) and this awesome picture featuring Grant with a broken nose on the set of Mad Max:

If there's anyone out there who could and would like to contribute to this collection, especially in the STUNT ROCK department...lobby cards, articles, promo stuff, international posters, a scan of the TEMPO Magazine prop cover and who knows what else...let's talk.

Memorabilia part 3, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Alright, Here's the Texas Chainsaw Massacre collection so far. I don't think this is very impressive, i've seen some amazing TCM collections over the years. On www.thetexaschainsawmassacre.net for example are some incredible pictures of insane collections. But here's the stuff I've collected so far...
Let's start with two TCM part 2 standees. This first one is an old Dutch/Belgian videostore display. I use to own a couple of these in the late eighties when the video was released but due to moving all the time I lost them all. I traded this one a couple of years ago for some records.

Here's the big US videostore standee. I first saw it in Death Wish 4, during the Videostore shootout. Took me years to track one down and eventually bought this one on ebay from a former Dallas TX videostore owner. It's a shame the original box is missing but it is signed by Caroline "Stretch" Williams, Bill "Chop-Top" Moseley and Jim "The Cook" Siedow.

Poster for the original, too bad it isn't the original poster, but this will do untill I find one.

German One Sheet, and one of my favorite designs:

A messed up VHS release poster, I think from the UK...

A Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 one sheet re-print:

An original one sheet:

Here's a Japanese TCM2 poster. I love these designs.

And one of those huge French ones:

Here's a cool, signed Chop-Top poster I ordered from Bill Moseley's site www.choptopsbbq.com I wish they did one of these for every character, but oh well...

Last for now are the DVDs and VHS tapes, signed pictures, soundtrack...etc...The complete Lobby card set Part 2 will be uploaded in a future update as well as a couple of lobby cards for the first movie.
